I agree sex is overused in all forms of media. But you are using the same sort of logic that Cathy Ruse is using in the article. This game is rated "M". That is just like a rated "R" movie. I wouldn't let my child watch "Basic Instinct" for example, but I don't think the movie should be banned or have the sexual situations edited out. It is adult entertainment. Calling this subject "another small stick on the fire" is kind of absurd. If you don't approv...
This is a form of media that depicts life, just like movies. Sex is a part of life. I have yet to see a game portray anything more graphic than what you can see in a soap opera or romantic drama series (desperate housewives, anyone?). The fact of the matter is, as stated very well by Hapimeses, video games are still viewed by many as a child's form of entertainment. I am 32 years old (today actually!), and play games, for the most part, for the story. I don't mind sex in a video game as long ...
I actually liked the very first Kain game, when it was more like an action/RPG. I liked all the spells and gadgets you acquire over the course of the game and the cinematics were some of the best I'd ever seen at the time. I tried a couple on the others and didn't care for them all that much, too Tomb Raider-ish.
You a way off subject! This story (because you obviously didn't read it) is about David Jaffe and his opinions about the video game market, not which system is going to "win" or who is "better". Take your fanboyism elsewhere.
Same goes to xbox forever.
I wasn't going to buy this game because I actually thought the graphic style was a little weird, not really sure what exactly it was, but something bothered me. Now that I've played it, I don't know what I was thinking! Truly a beautiful game. I love the story; very Indiana Jones / Romancing the Stone - ish. I just started it yesterday (so thank you for putting "spoiler" cautions above) and can't wait to get back to it.
As far as multiplayer, I think that would really...
He's really starting to irritate people that were once his fans. I mean, God of War was a great game and he obviously has a good mind for game design and creation, but his ideas on the overall video game market are just lame. He needs to shut up and concentrate on his job, let everyone else do theirs.
Besides, it's not like this will ever happen. The only way any company stops producing hardware (Sega, Atari, ect) is when their product fails for more than one generation. I don'...
It's hard to believe that after all this time of "equality" there are still rampant morons who look down on other people because of race, religion, and/or country of origin. This is part of the reason I'm not all that anxious to play online (that, and there is no reasonable way for me to get broadband at my house!). Very sad. There has to be a better way to regulate this sort of thing.
That's some big numbers for such an odd niche market.
I think more Americans need this sort of thing, not Japanese. I mean, Japanese people are generally quite thin anyway.
But, it sells games, so who can blame them. I'll probably buy it, not for that reason, but because I like weapons based fighters. And not all the females in the game have that appearance, just Taki and Ivy.
Taki and Ivy should really check with their plastic surgeons, though. I think they used helium instead of silicone in those things!
Yeah, I'm not sure on the relevance of his gaming activities. He seemed like a fairly normal brainiac, aside from the nuclear reactor thing, you know. I mean, he wasn't some sort of extremist or total wacko, he just was dealing with cutting edge technology that he is fascinated with. Many scientists in the past run "questionable" experiments in their own private "lab" without anyone's knowledge until they make some sort of history making break through. I am curious about ...
The Star Wars / Soul Caliber cross over is a little weird but it could be fun. The whole good / evil thing is just plain funny though.
I own a PS3. Where in this article does it say anything about this coming out on PS3? It gabbed my attention with it being listed under PS3, but then said nothing about it being released for any confirmed platform. What's up with that?
And before anyone calls me a jealous Sony fan, I'm not. I just have read a lot about this game and was interested in the news. I've got plenty of games on my machine to keep free time filled. The game looks good and I'd be interested in the seque...
if they air their dirty laundry in their magazine. On the web, I can take it, but in your mag is unacceptable. I read the magazine to read about games and the gaming industry, not the politics within the publishing industry.
If they are being legitimately biased against certain game producers, by all means yank their privilege to review free games. But, if your game is legitimately a 5 out of 10, don't complain when that's what you get. I mean, come on, name the last Mortal Kom...
Hot nurses? Are you out of your mind!?! What sort of necrophilia fantasies are you people having here? Sure, they are heavy chested, but the smeared, twisted flesh on their face and twitchy, unnatural body contortions are just a bit of a turn off for me!
On another note, I can see myself playing along, walking down a hallway cautiously, then the walls start to melt away. That's the type of thing in a game that makes you stop, let go of the controls for a second and go, "oh...
that thing is ugly!
Is this guy for real? This is just plain ridiculous. Oh, it's OK to kill Nazis but killing these virtual insurgents bothered him? Constantly trying to "rationalize" letting his child play a video game with a "Mature" rating. Wether De La Cruz wants to admit it or not, the average foot soldier for the Nazis were as brain washed as the average modern insurgent. They were/are taught to believe something that was pounded into their head until it became their reality. I'm not d...
on page 3 it states that the author isn't real and the book is completely made up. Funny stuff though!
I'm quite surprised that Phil Harrison seems to have lost all his bubbles. That strikes me as very strange. You would think you, "Phil", would have a better reputation and not get stripped of your right to speak on this sight. Very strange indeed!
Indigo Prophecy was a great piece of story telling.
I hope they reveal more about this game soon.
Now you've dragged in a whole different subject of trying to tell me what is right and wrong for my life. I don't like that. I find it ironic with all your posts that you are trying to change people's point of view, yet here you sit on the internet. According to you, the problem is the way sex is portrayed in every form of media. Well, if that's the case, what are you doing here? By your own logic, you should be home schooling your children and not letting them watch any TV or movies that por...
